Edit Existing Ruby on Rails Site

I have an existing Ruby on Rails Site that needs some edits. I have attached the list for edits.

1)**SmallerAnimated Banner To Replace The Large Flash Element:**Create an animated banner that would replace the Flash element on all but theHome page and the “Photo Gallery?? section pages. The idea is to dramaticallyreduce the real estate taken up by the Flash, so that the user can see the pagecontents better. This would look very much like the banner in the Sterling blog([url removed, login to view]). This would include approximately 20images that rotate.

*2)? ? ? * **Icons on Home Page:**? On left-hand side, there are four icons onhome page under the menu, i.e., private entrance, contact us.? Enlarge these icons and make them more easilyseen and readable. ? Then, add an icon forour Blog and add a calendar icon for scheduling an appointment.? Also, add all icons for our social networkingsites, i.e., Facebook, Twitter, etc.? Inregards to the calendar icon, when you hit it, it would need to bring up anemail that goes to Gary, subject line:schedule an appointment.? Theperson could then fill in date, etc., send and it goes to Gary’s email.

3)**MoreProminent “Complete List Of Floorplans?? Button**:In the two floorplan sections (Custom Designs and Portfolio Designs) we willmove the “Complete list of Floorplans?? button above the search forms, andchange their design to match the brush stroke from the flash, (but NOTanimated), and change the copy on the button to be more succinct.

4)**CameraAnd Video Icons/Links:** For those properties that havepop-up pictures or video associated with their floorplans, we will add a cameraand/or video icon next to each plan headline on the search results pageproperty listings page. Clicking on the camera icon would take the user to theProperty Details page and center the image on the 1st Floor floorplan for thathome. For those properties that have YouTube videos associated with them, wewill add a video icon, that when clicked opens the YouTube video for thatproperty in a new window. To implement this, we will also need to add a videoURL field to the property details record in the database.? Would also like to add this ability to linkin YouTube videos on Testimonial page.

5)**BuildingProcess Step 23:** We will replace the thumbnailin the flash elements, and the inset image for Step 23 of the “Building ProcessPage?? (the image showing Hank and the now defunct Home Services and Repairtruck; also take the truck picture out of Homeowner Warranty page under PrivateEntrance section.

6)**WarrantyPDF Document:** Rather than linking to the TRCCwebsite for warranty information, Sterling now needs the ability to add a PDFof the warranty to the site. We will embed links in the site on the followingpages: Step 23 of the building process, Warranty Page of the Homeowner Section ***.*** Sterlingwill have the ability to replace the document as needed. This will work thesame way as the employment application currently works, where you upload a newPDF in the Documents section of the admin, when the document needs to beupdated.

7)**MaintenanceTips Page:** One of the pages we turned off in the“Home Services and Repairs?? section was the Maintenance Tips page. This pagewill be added as a submenu item in the “Sterling Experience?? menu right aboveFAQs. This submenu will link back to this page. We will also modify the Adminsection so that changes there are reflected in this new location, so that youcan continue to modify the page as needed.

*8)? ? ? * **Under ‘Sterling Resume’ tab,there is a menu button ‘Testimonials:**? Change from Testimonials to “Our CustomersSay It Best??.

9)**PhotoGallery:**Add menu button under Photo Gallery that says ‘Residences’.? Then, all pictures for that one home would beunder each residence.

*10) ***Admin Editable AllowanceFields:** Change the Homeowner Section so thatthe “Allowance?? fields in the Allowances worksheet are populated from the adminsection (Sterling enters these numbers for each client in the backend admin.)The “Actual?? fields would still be modifiable by Sterling’s customers, and thenthe “Difference fields will be automatically calculated by subtracting theActual from the Allowance.

*11) ***Addition to Homeowner LoginSection:**Add an additional section under the Private Entrance Section that wouldbe similar to the Allowances & Change Order Tabs.? This one would be labeled Draws.? Want the ability to add PDFs like the othersections.

*12) ***Adding links underTestimonials:**Adding links in customer testimonials, so that it a new page opens whenclicking on the link that takes you to that person’s home under Custom Designs??" the link doesn’t always work.?

*13) ***Archive Old Newsletters:**? Want a way to archive old newsletters andhave accessibility in Admin section to move from current to archive section.?

*14) ***Multiple Image Upload:** Thereare two places in the admin section where Sterling regularly uploads multipleimages, they are the Under Construction Homes section, and the Photos area ofthe Customer Projects. This modification would create the ability to uploadmultiple images at once to these sections.

15) **404 Error Page (requested bymRelevance):** This would be a page that a user getswhen they find a broken link. Rather than just a standard error page,mRelevance recommended a page would include the header, navigation, and footerthat match the existing site, and text stating something like “We are sorrythat you have reached this page in error, the page you are trying to get todoes not exist. Please use the navigation to the left to find what you arelooking for.?? This will also include setting the DNS or control panel to tellthe host where the 404-error page is.

16) **404 Error Page with AutomatedSite Map Generator:** This would be a system thatanalyzes the site database weekly and generates a sitemap HTML file as well asa sitemap XML file, both of which can be accessed easily by Google. In the HTMLfile, we also include some text for visitors/users as well so that it can beused as a 404 file. Rebuilding the site map each week not only ensures that themap stays up to date, it is a great way to get Google to index every page ofthe site, and it provides an easy way for Google to navigate every link in thesite.

17) **PAGE HEADERS & TITLE TAGSFor Dynamic Content (mRelevance):** Theprevious programmer added the ability to edit the Page Name, Page Title,Keywords, and Page Description for SEO purposes, at no additional [url removed, login to view] has asked that we add that ability for the pages that aredynamically created by the Content Management System. This would be a fairlyinvolved modification. The best solution (and most cost-effective) would be todetermine and build a "formula" that would auto-generate those tagsfor non-static pages.?

Ifyou would like to go the manual entry route, where we add fields in thedatabase for each page, it is more time intensive. In any event, we reallyshould have a default formula in the event that the administrator forgets tocreate one manually. I recommend that we get mRelevance involved in theconversation to see if they have a recommendation one way or the other, andwhat formula(s) they would recommend.
