Hello everyone,
=== YOUR BID MUST REFLECT THAT **YOU'VE READ AND UNDERSTOOD OUR REQUIREMENTS** ===
We need an applet that can render 3D models - like a digital camera or similar. Check out <[login to view URL]> for similar engines.
1) Unlike holomatix, we need to be able to control our model from Java code. For instance we need to **(A) catch click events of an element of the model** (like a button) and **(B) change the appearance of elements dynamically** - at runtime (like the shading of the button when clicked).
2) There should be a way to **import/support a popular format of a well-known 3D-modeling software**, like 3DMax. We must allow for models to be created in such an environment.
3) Ideally we'd like the winning coder(s) to **(A) start working on an existing framework** - one that is freely available (open-source) or can be aquired for commercial use. **(B) The size** of the applet, including any framework dependecies (jars, etc) **should be kept low** - a few hundred KBs - so it would load fast over the network. We can not assume that the users have 3D libraries (or similar) installed. **(C)** It would also be a big plus, if the applet would be **jdk1.1 compatible**.
Keep your bid short, but explain how these requirements will be achieved. You need to state which types of 3D models would be supported, what frameworks will you use - check out the Internet - there are dozzens of them.
We are coders, too, with some experience here on RAC. We might also consider a bidder with less experince/ratings, as long as he explains his solution well. Good luck with bidding!
