My event site is being attacked suddenly by spammers. They are trying to post so many events that my web host is shutting my site down. So first, I would like to know if a spam blocking feature could be added so when you go to submit an event you have to enter in a code or something, to help block spammers.
Also, I don't know if there is something wrong with the script/programming or if it is just because of the spammers, but in my web host's cpanel there is a "process manager" and if it fills up with over 20 processes at one time, thats when my site gets shut down. Most of the processes saying something about "sendmail".... I think this is what is happening:
Spammers are posting several events at one time, and everytime an event is posted my site sends me an email letting me know. Well, if this happens over 20 times in a row, it creates 20 of these "processes" that aren't killing/dying by themselves, therefore my webhost is shutting my site down.
So, I'd like to know how much it would be to add a spam blocking feature to my event posting site, and also, I was wondering if you could check out the script that sends me an email when an event is posted, because for some reason it is causing these "processes" in my process manager to build up.
Hopefully, simply adding a spam blocker will solve the problem though.
I would like this done a.s.a.p. if possible..
