Scope of Work- Auto Bulb Parts Selection Site
Date: 4/29/2009
Revision: A
CL (CL):
Chris Bacon (Ctlumination LLC)
Service SP (SP):
TBD
Summary of overall Goals:
Develop a new website that incorporates vehicular parts reference data for each model year, model and make.
1. This website will allow users to look up a list of parts for their vehicle by selecting as follows:
1. Part Category
2. Make and Model Year
3. Model
The parts categories will be selectable.
2. After these selections are made, a list of the correct parts for that combination of Part Category, Make, Model Year and Model will be displayed using a graphic image.
3. Each page will display frames to allow the administrator to display links to other pages and banner advertisements. The main data frame showing the search results will be static, but the administrator can change and update the frames by changing a single file. Other frames will be dynamic and display up to 10 banner advertisements that appear randomly from a master list that is controlled by the administrator.
4. IMPORTANT: ** All webpages pages must appear in HTML format so that they can be crawled by the search engines for content.
5. The initial phases (Phase I, II and III) of the project will only set up the Automotive Light Bulbs Data. This scope shall set up the framework to look up other part categories, but it will not populate the data for other part categories, such as Automotive Oil Filters, etc…
The initial bid (Phase I) shall only include work on the back-end MYSQK data base and admin panel interface for data entry and populating the data for model year 2007. Phase II and III shall be a separate project and shall be bid after the completion of phase I. Phase II shall be to populate all data for the remaining light bulbs used in all models and makes for 1950-2006 and 2008-09 model years. Phase III shall be to complete the front end. The front end will allow visitors to the site to enter their vehicle Part Category, Make, Model Year and Model. A page will then be displayed to show all of the parts for their vehicle.
6. Phase I of the project shall require an elegant use of various forms of data entry to make the entry, editing and display of data easy and quick
7. Data accuracy for this project is extremely important. Extra emphasis must be placed to assure that the data that is looked up accurately, thoroughly precisely and translated into the new website
Overview:
Master Administration Panel (MAP)
The back-end shall consist of a Master Administration Panel (MAP) that will serve as the interface to enter, edit and view all of the data. The data entered from the MAP shall be stored in an SQL database. Phase I of the project shall be to develop the MAP interface, SQL database and enter all data for the 2007 model year ( to prove functionality).
i. LOGIN
The initial MAP page shall be a login page. The login page shall be username and password protected and allow for standard username and password retrieval.
Example:
ii. Part Categories.
The next page will allow the user to establish the Part Categories as follows:
A. Automotive Light Bulbs
B. Automotive Oil Filters
C. Automotive Air Filters
D. Etc…
The initial phase of the project will only set up the Automotive Light Bulbs Data Base (back end). This scope shall set up the framework to enter other part categories, but it will not populate the data for other part categories, such as Automotive Oil Filters, etc…
This page will allow the administrator to add, delete or edit an infinite number of Part Categories.
Example:
iii. Make.
After entering the Part Categories, the administrator will then enter the vehicle makes.
Example:
This page will allow the administrator to add, delete or edit an infinite number of Makes.
iv. Model.
After entering the Makes, the administrator will then enter the Models for each model year.
Example:
This page will allow the administrator to add, delete or edit an infinite number of Models and assign the model years associate with each model.
The model years for each model shall be selectable from a drop down menu using SHIFT / CTRL keys.
v. Part Location Names.
After entering the Models and model years, the administrator will enter the Part Location Names.
Example:
This page will allow the administrator to add, delete or edit an infinite number of part location names for each part category.
The page shall be dynamic so that when the part category is changed the lower display shall dynamically change to show the current list of part location names for the category selected.
vi. Templates
In order to aid data entry, a templates section shall be created. The templates section shall allow the administrator to create a parts list template. These templates may be used later to pre-populate data for a particular make, model and model year. Due to symmetry of many parts lists, this feature will be invaluable to allow phase II (data entry) to be completed more easily.
Example of the Template page:
Example of a template for Model Year 2009 Make Acura Model TSX Category Automotive Light Bulbs
[login to view URL]
This page will allow the administrator to add, delete or edit an infinite number of templates and parts lists.
vii. Master Parts List
A master parts list shall be used to create a master list of part numbers that are used on any or all vehicles. Each parts list shall be unique for a given part category. Also specific details associated with each part shall be entered (see example below). The page shall be dynamic so that when the part category is changed the lower display shall dynamically change to show the current master parts list for the category selected.
The Master Parts List shall contain data fields as shown in this example:
In order to aid data entry and improve graphic display, the text boxes shall be dynamic to allow the text box to open for editing and then appear as text for display on the same page. This shall be done either using a mouse click or by hovering the mouse over the data.
viii. Master Part Lists (Not to be confused with Master Parts List)
The Master Part Lists shall be where the parts for each Make, Model and Model Year are entered. This page is where all of the previous data entered is married up for each Make, Model and Model Year. Also this is where the templates may be used to pre-populate the date fields.
Example:
IMPORTANT: The page shall be dynamic so that the page will update automatically as the user enters the Category, Make, Model and Year. Both the drop down boxes and the lower display shall update dynamically as each selection is made.
viii. Manage Banner Ads
Example:
A page shall be created to allow the administrator to manage banner advertisement that shall be displayed in the front end when the website is completed in Phase III.
x. Configuration
A configuration page shall be set up to configure the back end and front end with basic information.
Example:
