Currently users upload images and the original is stored.
Every time a thumbnail is loaded on any page, it is the original image put through image.php.
Some pages may have 30+ user thumbnails. If you multiply this by 100+ online users, you can see there is a better way to do this.
I want to use STATIC image thumbnails from this point forward.
Here's how to do it:
Step 1. Add code in the [url removed, login to view] file so that instead of generating a thumbnail over and over again every time the image is called, it checks to see if a thumbnail image already exists, if not it will create it and display it from the created thumbnail image. The next time the image is run through the [url removed, login to view] there will be no generating, just pointing to the location of the new thumbnail image.
Step 2. When users upload images, from this point forward they should now have thumbnail images generated in addition to the normal size photo. These thumbnails that are created will be why we will no longer need to run images through the [url removed, login to view] file in the future once we've created thumbnails for the all the files.
Step 3. Once we have steps 1 and 2 complete, we can convert all images that have yet to be converted, and then remove [url removed, login to view] from operation.
The site is live with sometimes 100+ people online. Please only bid if you have solid experience and the know how.
