I am trying to develop a database (mySQL) structure that allows a search for entries entered by end users. I am little new at this so you may need to have some patience with me. Thank you.
I want a user to be able to ENTER the following data from a website:
Last Name (25) - in parenthesis's is field length
First Name (including common derivatives of the name ie: Robert also searches for Rob, Bob etc.) (25)
Middle Initial (1)
Street Address1 (40)
Street Address2 (40)
Date Case was filed (Text, 100)
Case Number(s) (Text, 100)
Phone Number (12)
Year of Birth (4)
I want a user to be able to SEARCH for all the fields listed and be displayed if there is a match. All of the fields are displayable.
The user will need to be able to enter data into the database in a user friendly form format and the inputed/uploaded data will need to be easily indexed, searched and retrieved.
The purpose of this website will be for landlords to search for potentially bad renters.
I will be working on the website but I need you to help me with the database structure portion.
This post is similar to another recent post – however I am not going to ask for as much private data. I just want a plain and simple database that a landlord can enter data about their old deadbeat renter and then do a search a few days later on the new renter to see if others had a problem with him/her. Easy and simple is important. Just as important is I don’t want someone to be able to enter a few key searches and “steal†all my hard work. I plan on hiring people to search county records (which are all still on paper) and enter the results from their home computer.
In my state – when a landlord takes a nonpaying renter to “rent courtâ€, all of the records are still on paper. I plan on asking some unemployed friends to search the court records and start entering their results into this database.
