We have commissioned an essay bank which has been created in php / mysql.
The programmer (not from scriptlance) has been working on this for weeks now and it still has bugs so we need help with it.
We changed the user name recently so that users had to use their email address as a user name. Since then, users have not been able to register. When they sign up, they get a message saying an email has been sent to their email account. The email DOES get sent and it states:
Thanks for registering with the Essay Bank. We appreciate your interest in
our services. Your chosen user name was "".
To activate your account please click on the following link or paste it
into your browser
and the URL does appear. As you can see, the user name (the user's email address is not dropping in to the mail above - there are just double quotation marks.
When you click on the URL you get taken to the website where you get a message:
New account — Accept registration
Wrong auth data Whoops - something is wrong. Did you press the back button on your browser? Try logging in again here.
I have checked to see if the account has been created by
trying to reregister with the same email address, and yes it lets me do this, and also by requesting a password reminder - to which it just says the user has not been found. So the bug is obviously that the email address is not logging in the database as the user name.
We are looking for some fast help with this because it has been dragging on for weeks. Please make sure you understand the problem before you bid and do message me on the board if you have any questions at all.
