I am posting this for a stock trading idea that I have. This is mainly a test script, for a much larger project. I am going to test a formula using a simple extraction from a website.
Here is what the script should do:
Screen the NYSE, NASDAQ and OTCBB stocks, and find the top 20 stocks in each category starting 25 (this interval should be able to be changed as a variable in a config file) minutes after the open time of the markets.
You will note the price of the stocks at the time of the screening, and log it for each stock.
Then the script will at each specified period during the day, log the prices of the stocks screened in the first screening again at different intervals during the day. We will run 5 different intervals, and the intervals will be set by myself. Example: 30 minutes from the opening screen, 60 minutes from the screen, 90 minutes from the screen, 120 minutes from the screen etc.
At the end of each day I will be able to go and view the prices that were logged in the beginning , and see the prices logged at each interval, and their percent gain or decline in relationship to the original screen.
This data will be exported to a text file at the end of each day.
The matter in which you screen these stocks is up to you. I am looking for the most "real-time" trading information. Meaning you should gather the stock information in as real time as possible. There are services available to do this.
Thanks and good luck! This script should not take long to make, and I expect the programmer to get it done in a timely fashion!
