adjust / convert stock data price file

We want a program that will adjust price data files for splits and cash dividends. All files are ASCII files. The price file looks like YYYYMMDD HHMM $OPEN $HIGH $LOW $CLOSE VOLUME (please note the files sent in the example are Daily files for smaller files, they do not have the time field they look as: YYYYMMDD $OPEN $HIGH $LOW $CLOSE VOLUME ) with no header: 20041216 1202 98.08 98.11 98.08 98.10 21800 20041216 1203 98.10 98.11 98.07 98.10 8900 20041216 1204 98.10 98.14 98.08 98.09 15300 20041216 1205 98.09 98.10 98.08 98.09 6200 The split file looks like SYMBOL YYYYMMDD X:Y with no header: AAPL 19870616 2:1 AAPL 20000621 2:1 The dividends file looks like: YYYYMMDD $$$ 19870511 0.12 19870810 0.06 19871117 0.08 19880212 0.08 .. 19950816 0.12 19951121 0.12 The basic adjustment criteria for splits is: a 2:1 split means to multiply all prices by 1/2 = 0.5 so a price of $20 on the day before the split changes to $10, as do all prices before the split happened. for the same split, the volume gets multiplied by: 2/1 = 2, so the volume of 10000 moves up to 20000, in summary with original prices of: 20030115 20 10000 20030114 20.5 500 after the split adjustment we are left with: 20030115 10 20000 20030114 10.25 1000 The basic adjustment criteria for dividends is: a $0.10 dividend means to substract $0.10 from all prices so a price of $20 on the day before to the dividend changes to $19.9, as do all prices before the dividend happened. for the same dividend, the volume is not changed, in sumary with original prices of: 20030115 20 10000 20030114 20.5 10000 after the dividend adjustment we are left with: 20030115 19.9 10000 20030114 20.4 10000 the tricky part with adjustments is that dividends have to be split adjusted before they are applied Please see attached file for procedure. We will provide unajusted files as well as split/dividend files for you to work on. This program can be done in Perl/C/Java, but must be very efficient and fast. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform must be perl, standard C or Java and must work in either Linux or windows.
