We are developing an online college basketball simulation game. Much of the game and site is finished. We are in need of an experienced programmer/website designer to complete the project. The bulk of the site has been done in PHP.
Users will sign up to coach teams in a world. There are approximately 600 teams per world. As need dictates, additional worlds will be created. Users will recruit players, schedule opponents, manage their teams and set game strategies. The entire process of a college basketball season will be simulated with recruiting, scheduling, games, post-season tournaments, job advancement/hiring and messages to be sent to users providing them important team information. Users will have access to player and team stats, polls and rankings of teams, roster and team info, user forums and message boards, sitemail, etc.
The site also needs an administrative panel/controls for us to manage user account information and manage the season process for the worlds (starting new seasons, running the game simulations, etc.) as well as a shopping cart for processing payments and payment information.
Several components of the game and site are complete or nearly complete. The basic site is developed with functional pages for many of the components of the game and a few others that need development such as player and team stats pages and job advancement/hiring page.
There are several components which are almost entirely complete and only need small revisions: (1) the generation of the initial worlds with initial player rosters and coaches, (2) the generation of new player recruits, (3) the game scheduling system, (4) the entire recruiting process,(5) the game engine to simulate the actual basketball games, (6) the game processing system to run regular season games, and (7) various team management and game strategy pages. These areas need a few minor features added or need adjustements to numeric formulas based upon testing results.
The following components have been written out by us in great detail but still need to be programmed: (1) the game processing system to run post-season tournament games, (2) the job hiring/advancement process, (3) in-season practice settings and player improvement, (4) end-of-the season player improvement, and (5) player and team stastics tracking and database creation.
We currently have an administrative panel to handle world and game functions that have been programmed so far. This will need to be built upon as the remaining features are added. We will need creation of the user account information management system. We already have a sitemail program designed which will need to be integrated into the site. We will need a shopping cart system designed although this will be very basic as we intend to use Paypal to handle processing of payments.
We are in need of some sprucing up of the existing website and html to give things a more professional feel. There will need to be some work on integrating the site as far as the sitemail program, the forums, etc.
Once the project is "operational", we will be running a beta test world with several dozen users. Based upon the feedback from our testers, we will undoubtedly need to make some revisions and perform some fine-tuning.
This is a complex project. We need someone with at least a general knowledge of sports, particularly basketball. We need someone who speaks, reads and writes English well if you provide outsourcing of programming. Unfortunately, our experience with this project has taught us that without those things, our productivty and efficiency is very poor.
We will pay hourly in two week increments. In our experience, flat rate pricing doesn't work for this type of project. We would be willing to discuss some form of bonus payment based upon success of the site. We will eventually be releasing a version 2.0 of the college basketball game as well as creating additional sports games. So there is an opportunity for substantial future work as well.
Please provide an hourly rate in your bid. Flat-rate bids will not be considered. Also, please mention any applicable sports knowledge and/or experience with simulated sports games.
Thank you for taking the time to review our project description.
