We have a website which sends out batches of email notifications (solicited, non-spam). Mail is sent using PHP mail() function. We need a complete solution to receive and process bounces (using procmail or POP3 or something similar) and update a database to flag invalid addresses. The solution needs to be secured using a unique random number for each email sent: You (coder) need to ensure all bounces are sent back to a unique address, so that we know exactly which email was bounced and can acurately update the database. We have tried using an "Errors-To:" header but it did not have any effect, all bounces still go to root or www-data. Your solution must be fully developed and proven in your own Ubuntu8 server and delivered to us in an installation script with clear instructions.
1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows? (depending on the nature? of the deliverables):
a)? For web sites or? other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software? installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).

It is critically important that the database on the sending server must be updated for every bounced (meaning, undeliverable, returned) email. For example in SQL, do "UPDATE USERS SET BOUNCED='Y' WHERE EMAIL = $EMAIL"
