I have a working front page design for Dragonfly CMS with high quality design and html / css implementation. The design does not follow the normal DF page structure so is almost a stand alone mini-application.
I then have an excellent css based theme developed by the DF community - reDesign (thank you Eastlane, donation to follow!), which should form the base of the rest of the site.
The project is to combine the two - keep the front page design and make the rest of the DF site match using the reDesign theme as a base.
So, to see exactly what is involved please look at the attached zip file. It contains a screen shot of the new front page design, which is a working DF module which will be supplied to the programmer. It is standalone though - no normal blocks or tabulated layout is used, and it does not use a DF theme CSS or template structure.
This header, footer (footer not shown on the picture, still being finalized) and colour / font scheme should be applied to the rest of a normal DF site, which uses the modules mentioned above (the page width should be 100% for the main site though).
This will involve the merging of the front page design style sheets, and the theme stylesheet, and html work to give common names to the various page elements - divs etc.
This does not however require the writing of a new theme, and should be based on the reDesign theme available for download from the dragonflycms site (made by a user 'Eastlane' and still under development:
[See thread here]
(This is a css based theme. DF has previously been laid out with tables).
Our existing site is here - you can see why we're changing!:
The forum is the most important part, and the new theme must allow the inclusion of banners in the modules as on the current site - notably in the headers of the forum pages.
The developer must speak good english and work with a small team of our users at the end of the project, be proactive and finish the theme with them. This will involve 'that button would be better there' type adjustments.
**A fully functional DF demonstration install in the new theme with the following modules: Forums, Blogs, Gallery, Random Quotes, Web Links, DF Maps.
The DF site will have one theme to match the front page module shown in the zip file and discussed above, except that all pages except the front page will be full width.
The theme must stick as closely as possible to the reDesign theme discussed above (this will make future upgrades easier for us).
**The developer must be willing to discuss the design with a team of users and make minor modifications accordingly where suggestions are sensible. This obligation is difficult to define, but is likely to involve one week of two hours per day responding to suggestions and making adjustments.
The design is flexible and I would very much appreciate experienced input. Elements of the design which are not good include the header menu and the footer.
This theme is one of 8 themes that we use on 3 DF sites, all based on the same structure. A successful contract will quickly lead to further theme work to move the theme on to the other sites, and to develop the theme further in the future.
Just in case I spoke too much
1) Make the reDesign DF theme look like the front page design shown.
2) Merge the structure and stylesheets so that both run from one stylesheet.
3) Make the resulting theme work for our current banners and modules.
4) Put the result on line for initial acceptance.
5) Take feedback from a small group of users and adjust accordingly.
