As my tech manager (part-time to start), you will help build a community-based web application, including consumer and back-end (administrative tools) interface. You will manage all aspects of technical development needed for the business. The application to be built requires extensive database driven functionality. You will interview, hire and manage off-shore developers, design (technical design, not UI) and build website, concept or oversee design of database and choose applications/OS the business will run on (no platform has been determined).
I need someone I can trust and work closely with on many levels of the business. Your schedule will be flexible (you must be an independent and proactive worker), pay structure (pay+equity, all equity, etc.) is negotiable, depending on your level of involvement. Creativity and technical brilliance is a must. The more languages you can understand and code in, the better.
This is an ideal opportunity for a college student with extensive programming and database driven application knowledge or a professional that wants to take on a side project. I am an experienced internet professional that has built and managed several web-based applications and online consumer service offerings. 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done.
2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables):
a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment.
b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request.
3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement).
I need my technology partner to help me decide what platform, application and architecture I should run with. I have not made final decisions on any of this. I am leaning towards Linux, PHP, MySQL.
