This project is not anything new but it is new in terms of how it should be customised for selling collectible paper money banknotes to collectors and enthusiasts. We want an online store which is really simple yet well-designed and offers a complete, bug-free, tried tested and true e-commerce experience both for the customer and the store owner. The owner should have access to a powerful control panel which can modify certain sections of the site's text/content of some pages. In addition to this, the control panel should also provide, in a streamlined design, easy and quick access to sales history, list of clients with links to their transactions and so on. Admin staff using the control panel should be able to add clients, edit their details and so on.
The front end should have a layout allowing for different content sections. For instance we would like to have a page called "The Black List" where details are reported about scammers or paper money dealers with bad reputations. And another page giving tips on collecting banknotes. We would like our search function to show only countries for which the store has notes in stock and show how many notes from each country are in stock (drop down).Another advanced search should be available with other applicable information such as the notes catalogue number, its denomination, its grade, price (range). We would like the site to have the ability to have items in the store that have been marked to allow visitors to submit their best offer for that item. Or have the ability to indicate the minimum the seller is willing to accept. A notification email must be sent immediately in cases of purchases being made and also payment. After an item is sold it should remain active in the search and browse areas of the site but be marked as SOLD clearly as in eBay. Another major part of the site should be a catalogue system which is separate but can be tied to the store inventory. This section should represent the world catalogue of banknotes and would contain all banknotes (filled through the admin panel) as a reference but if the note in the catalogue is available in the store there should be a way to link the catalogue details page to the actual note which is for sale. Both the catalogue and store items should have fine-detail images along with them, but giving the visitor the choice of seeing them in different resolutions. Probably thumbnails with lightbox effect.
The site is currently running on an os commerce store however we are not happy with it and want a more modern and rich, yet simple rebuild of it. We tried this idea of getting a freelancer to do the work but were bitterly disappointed by a company in India, which I will not name, who wasted so much time and did not even deliver in the end so we ended up losing our deposit and not getting anything useful at all out of the whole experience. We are giving it another try though but due to our previous unfortunate experience, we would give priority to bids based on having no downpayment and payment being made after we see the full site running (on developer's test server). All bids will be looked at but priority will be given to ones that do not require a downpayment.
