What we pretend to create is a very simple site where the esthetical component will be of low priority.
It’s a site that will support the struggle against piracy on the internet and it will serve as a base of information so that users would know if they were or not, caught and reported in some of our initiatives in the fight against illegal file sharing.
Our association will gather the IP’s of citizens that share films in P2P and, posteriorly will present to the authorities the information of the day, time, place and ISP responsible for the connection and the name of the film that was illegally being shared – it has already been done in the past.
What we need is a site that does the following:
-Checks the origin of the visitor to the page, trough the IP and, eventually, any other useful element that could identify the connection.
-Automatically does a screening to verify if that visit, that IP of the person that´s accessing the site, matches any IP that has been detected in our actions – this list will have to be previously loaded to a data base in backoffice of the WEB page.
-If there isn’t a positive identification, a written message will appear saying: “Congratulations, you aren’t a pirate, you are contributing to the development of the creative industry”.
-In case that IP has already been reported, the following information will appear on the screen: “Your IP has been detected on the day XXXX, at XXXX hour sharing the film XXXXXXXX, having such activity been reported to the national authorities. Pirating doesn’t pay.
The idea has already been addressed by the site [url removed, login to view] although this was only a joke. What we mean to do is serious and it is based, effectively, in a real data base that will be loaded, as I’ve said, through the backoffice of the site.
The biggest challenge is to find a way of bypassing the problem of the dynamic IP’s and that’s where the quality of the professional, that we are trying to hire, comes in. We know that dynamic IP’s are a problem, not for the authorities that with the ISP’s can identify witch client at a given time had that IP, but could give wrong information on the site. Effectively someone could be identified as being reported, when in reality, it was someone else that, at a different time, was using the same IP.
We want to, absolutely, guarantee that such a risk will not be taken. We believe that there aren’t positive false identifications originated by the dynamism of the IP. This is the biggest difficulty – I would say, the only one – which the freelancer would have to overcome.
