We are porting an existing site to a new design. The existing HTML has the copy required for the new site, but it is full of extra span, font and other tags we don't want.
The job is to get rid of the extra tags, and make sure the tags are appropriate. "Appropriate" means using H1, H2, P and the like, while removing span, class and font. The site will be marked up with css, so you need to remove all inline formatting.
If you are a designer, we will consider extending this job to include writing the css for this project. We don't have the go ahead to do that yet, so this bid is to clean up the existing HTML only.
The output must be valid. It should not include anything from body and above, or fromand below. It should stand alone as valid chunks of html: tables must be complete, all tags must have closing tags. We will run an html validity checker on the results, so if you do that before returning the work we will probably be fine.
We will provide you with the existing HTML files in ASCII notepad files. Return them as TXT because we're using the file names to keep things straight.
Throughout the pages you will find references to pictures and links that we have not provided. Make a list of these, send it to us and we will get the files and send them to you. We know we only have some of the content, so your job will be to figure out what's missing.
The existing content refers to some pages that will not exist on the new site. If you request a missing file and it won't be on the new site, we will inform you of that status and you can just leave a marker in big bold type where you couldn't place the file. It might look like THERE WAS A REFERENCE TO [login to view URL] HERE, BUT THAT IS NOT IN THE NEW PRODUCT.
We are happy to answer questions during bidding and during the project. We are interested in building relationships as our model is to use a virtual team as business requires.
