Brief description: incorporate WordPress theme and functionality at the top page of a web site that will use WordPress as the engine in the blog subdirectory.
I am setting up a web site that will also have a blog. If the home page (top page) is in [url removed, login to view], the blog will be in [url removed, login to view] I am using one of the themes from the WordPress theme library.
I want the home page of my web site to look like the blog. This means using the CSS file from the selected WordPress theme. In addition, I want to be able to access some of the WordPress information from the home page.
The home page will have navigation sidebars containing sections called Archives and Categories. Over time the links under Archives change, because as a new month rolls around a new link is added. Similarly, if I add a new category for my blog, the entries under Categories would change. I want these changes to occur automatically without anyone having to update the top page manually. The core of the project is to provide a PHP script that makes this possible by calling WordPress functions.
A second part of the project is to incorporate sidebars in the home page just like the WordPress theme's sidebars. I will have a static write-up for the body of the page that will be separate from the WordPress articles. Give me the shell PHP script for the home page and just show me where I would paste the write-up of the body. This part of the project should not be hard. I just want the set of "div" and "/div" tags properly inserted so that the general layout (positioning of the columns) of the top page looks like the layout of the blog page.
