We maintain a vacation rental website for a client who rents out vacation properties. The client uses an off-site booking calendar hosted by another company. We maintain a local mySQL database with static info about the properties including the number of bedrooms and guest capacity for each property.
We currently have a search feature that allows visitors to search by the number of bedrooms or guest capacity (see [url removed, login to view] -- this is the only page on this website that is included in this project), but these searches only query our local database and display all properties without allowing the visitor to narrow the search to display only the properties that are available during a specific time frame. We need to integrate a query to the outside booking calendar database with the visitor's desired dates so only properties available on those dates will display.
So the scope of this project is to create a search feature that will allow visitors to
[url removed, login to view] a date range for their stay (this will query the outside booking calendar database).
[url removed, login to view] the number of bedrooms they desire (query local database)
[url removed, login to view] the number of guests they wish to house. (also query local database)
[url removed, login to view] form and view only properties that match the visitors input.
The only required fields will be the date of arrival and date of departure. If the visitor does not select the number of bedrooms or guest capacity, the search needs to return all available properties for the date range. The search for number of bedrooms and guest capacity needs to be => (equal to or greater than the input). For example, if a visitor requests a property that has 4 bedrooms and can accommodate 8 guests, the search must return all properties available during the provided date range that have 4 or more bedrooms and can accommodate 8 or more guests.
The off-site booking calendar supports XML and JSON, cURL access, and this is the part we're hiring you to integrate.
We want the date range boxes on the search form to trigger a pop-up calendar to allow visitors to select the date range of their visit. We need the calendar to date-aware so it will limit visitors to choosing dates in the future and only accept valid date ranges.
We'll need the code commented heavily so we can modify it over time as we add new units and remove others. The finished form can use our current search layout shown on [url removed, login to view] but simply add the date range form fields to the search. The current search is triggered by the user selecting either a number of bedrooms or guest capacity. We want this feature disabled to allow for a "Search Now" button the user clicks to display the available properties that meet the search criteria.
We have a maximum budget of $[url removed, login to view] USD for the project, and will be unable to award the project to any bidders that exceed this amount.
