To build an aggregation/meta-search website that provides a number of filters for a site user to create a search request for a product.
The website would then query a server for the relevant information, cached from a selection of e-commerce websites, updating database entries if they are out of date and grabbing new entries. The server would then present a list of results to the site user, who can browse the results and click through a link to take them to the appropriate e-commerce website.
Work required would be 3-4 web pages through which the portlets would be displayed, a self-updating database collating information from approximately 5 third-party websites and other back-end tasks.
One of the filters / display methods would use the Google Maps API. A thorough knowledge of populating a database with API information/website scraping is required, as well as coding knowledge in order to package the results in a user-friendly format. The client has a basic knowledge of static website creation but little understanding of back-end coding.
