I have approximately 500 lines of code written in Objective-C that I want converted to a simple PHP web application (with a small mySQL backend) that I can host on my web server.
The existing Objective-C code is basically a text converter that accepts user input of text (words in Latin) and converts the text into International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) symbols in Unicode. It then outputs (to the screen) the user-entered Latin text along with the converted IPA symbols. This Objective-C code was originally written for an iOS app, but now I'd like to make a web app to be cross-platform.
I envision needing a small mySQL database to use only for exceptions/overrides to the PHP logic. Before applying the logic to a given Latin word, the PHP app would query the mySQL data to determine if the word is one of the exceptions, and the mySQL data would contain (and return) the appropriate IPA symbols/transcription for that word instead of applying the logic. If the Latin word is NOT on the exception list (in the database), the app proceeds with applying the logic to convert it to IPA.
The final product would have a simple user interface with two text boxes; one for the user to input Latin words, and a second to display the output. There would also need to be buttons for the user to click to start the text conversion and clear each text box.
There is a possibility of more work if this first project goes well. I have similar Objective-C code to do similar conversions on three other spoken languages as well.
