Hello. The DB described doesnt seem to big to consume so much resource. There are some things i can do, like proper tuning, indexing, partition prunning implementation.

The problem is not about the mysql or server. You need make the good architecture based on the live users and make the cache system for repeated activities to save the unnecessary process. (we deal in banking grade applications so we know such problems)

Hi, I'd need to check your database engine and preferably tune it up. You still can't compare an SSD drive with a properly setup InnoDB caching engine. I think it's the only way out here. This will certably take up 2Gb of RAM (I wish you had more than 4) with a table of such size. I can also recomment using some alternative (like Percona), if you're using a standard MySQL server. The speed boos on querying InnoDB tables is as much as double. Best, Istvan
