I will soon be in need of a proofreader for a large work. Roughly 200,000 words or 550 pages(including around 50 pages of photographs). It's a re-wprking of my PhD thesis from 20 years ago which I am basically [login to view URL] subject is Indian classical music, and in same places it consiste of quite technical description and analysis of musical examples. I am mainly looking for someone to ensure consistency of spelling, grammar, punctuation, usage etc. There is quite alot of musical transcription (in a transliterated from of Indian sargam notation) embedded in the text—this of course I would expect you to ignore.
I am in London. The work is basically formatted and ready to go—in A4 at 16 pt line spacing. It is written mostly in two Mac fonts which I compiled. So you would need to work either on a Mac or on hard copy. How do you work? The work would probably benefit from ongoing phone or email communication to iron out usage and punctuation conventions which I tend to adhere to.
Do you have time and inclination to do this large a job? I might also be looking for someone to compile the index.
