Our existing website is a coupon website written with PHP (Codeigniter framework) and MySQL as database. The idea is that you can find coupons to various webshops and travel companies. All offers/coupons are now inserted manually by our administrator. However much of the work can be automated with API’s/feeds we have access to on various affiliate networks.
Your job will be to create crawlers that reads six API’s/feeds with coupons from different affiliate networks and also insert them to crontab to run every hour.
The database layout on the website is:
”Company” table with basic information about each company/brand.
”Offers” table with company_id and one offer for each row. Each offer have a start date, end date, title description and couponcode among some other data.
The tasks will include:
• Make one crawler/reader for each feed with offers(couponcodes)
• Insert each offer from the feeds into the offers table.
• Map companyid/company name from each offers in the feed to our own company table so we can insert into offers with the right company_id.
• If the company does not exist in our company table. Add the company to a new table called companies_missing so we can either map it to an existing company or create a new company.
• If the offer already exist update it (without changing offer_id).
• Since all data is not standard. You will need to come up with clever solutions to alter it.
YOU HAVE:
• Understanding of the importance of good communication with us.
• Respect for deadlines.
• Good knowledge and experience of PHP/MySQL/API/XML/cronjobs and so on.
