Expert InDesign Typesetter Needed: Formal & Traditional Layout for a 450-Page Academic/Course Book

We are seeking a highly skilled Adobe InDesign specialist to execute the interior layout and typesetting for a 450-page volume. The publication follows a highly structured, traditional coursebook format consisting of approximately 100 lessons. Each lesson comprises formal dialogues, structured exercises, textual notes, and minimal imagery. Crucial Requirement: The content is multi-lingual and features English, Kurdish, and Arabic text. The ideal candidate must be highly experienced in managing bi-directional text layout (Right-to-Left for Arabic/Kurdish and Left-to-Right for English) within the same document without disrupting paragraph flow or alignment. This contract is for the initial volume. Upon successful and high-quality completion, the selected freelancer will be offered the opportunity to format an additional 20 volumes within the same series, adhering to the exact same stylistic framework. Current Project State To ensure efficiency, the structural groundwork has already been laid: • Source Material: The text is fully prepared, edited, and systematically styled within a Microsoft Word document. • InDesign Template: The InDesign document is fully configured with established Parent Pages (Master Pages), Paragraph Styles, and Character Styles. Scope of Work & Deliverables Your primary responsibility will be the precise execution of the layout. You will import the structured text and flawlessly map it to the existing InDesign styles. Because this book follows a formal and traditional aesthetic, we require meticulous attention to text and paragraph formatting, including: • Perfect alignment to a baseline grid and proper handling of Right-to-Left (RTL) and Left-to-Right (LTR) text integration. • Flawless handling of text flow, avoiding improper hyphenation or font-flipping issues. • elimination of widows and orphans. • Deliverable: Upon completion, you must deliver the fully packaged, open, and completely editable Adobe InDesign source files (.INDD and IDML) along with the print-ready PDF. Required Qualifications • Demonstrated expertise in professional book typesetting and multi-lingual layout within Adobe InDesign (Middle Eastern/RTL features enabled). • A deep understanding of traditional typography rules, grid systems, and micro-typography. • Exceptional attention to detail regarding paragraph styles, leading, and white space management.
