I need some algorithm development work around map matching of GPS data (snapping noisy GPS points to a road network). There are existing solutions out there for this (valhalla, OSRM for instance), but they either aren't stable enough or aren't quite precise enough for my needs. Ideally we'd prototype something in like python and start with the standard HMM based approaches and then if necessary move to a compiled language for better performance once a good solution is found (I'm not partial to what that is).
If you're going to apply, it would be great if you could emphasize why you would be a good fit. There are many people on Freelancer that claim proficiency with algorithms/graphs, and it makes it really hard to decide. If you have some way of standing out for solving a problem like this, then it makes it much easier for me to choose you: have you worked with map matching before? Are you familiar with the limitations of the common algorithms? Do you have ideas for improvements to those? Can you identify potential performance bottlenecks? Anything like that is helpful. Thank you.
