Tool to find keywords in a VStS repo tree

The task is to search a VSTS repository for exact and fuzzy keywords in the source code files in the repo. For example, if searching for the keyword "ADD", the tool needs to scan all the files for "ADD" as well as "*ADD*" where the asterisk can be anything (or nothing), but not including spaces. ASCII characters only in the keyword list and the VSTS repo. Case is ignored, so “ADD” should match “add” and “aDd”.

The keywords will be in an ASCII file and need to be read from top to bottom, then each file in the VSTS repo scanned for an exact match of the keyword, then for fuzzy matches. The tool can scan all exact matches first, then all fuzzy matches, or it can scan for the exact then fuzzy match one after another, as you see fit. There could be hundreds or thousands of keywords in the keyword file.

The tool needs to scan for each keyword through the specified VSTS repo, including any and all subdirectories. Only ASCII is dealt with.

The tool can be a PowerShell script for Windows Server/Windows 10, or an executable. If an executable, a UI with the VSTS repo directory and the location of the keyword list will be inputs. If a script, that information can be read from a configuration file or as arguments on the command line.

Output from the tool should allow two sets of output:

1. A concise summary that shows only matches for an exact or fuzzy keyword showing the filename, and the match in two columns

2. A verbose summary that shows the filename scanned, as well as the keyword being scanned, and either the match or a “No Matches” message.
