Title: Video Call Media Handling Improvements 1. Camera Interruption Handling • When a user is in an active video call and opens another camera application, the app should pause the local video stream (similar to WhatsApp behavior). • Other participants should see a "Video Paused" state/indicator instead of a black screen. • When the user returns to the app and camera access is restored, video streaming should resume automatically. 2. SIM Call Handling in Background • When a cellular (SIM) call is received during an active app call, the app should place the ongoing call on hold and notify all participants. • This functionality currently works only when the app is in the foreground. • Extend the same behavior to work reliably when the app is in the background. 3. Screen Sharing - First-Time Launch Issue • Screen sharing does not work on the first attempt after a fresh app installation. • When a user starts screen sharing for the first time, other participants see a black screen instead of the shared content. • If screen sharing is stopped and started again, it works correctly without any issues. • Investigate and fix the first-time screen sharing initialization flow so that screen sharing works successfully on the very first attempt after app installation.

Hi! The piece about pausing video when the camera is interrupted and handling SIM calls in the background is where most video apps break—WhatsApp makes it look simple, but native device events are tricky in React Native. I’ve handled similar media state issues in live mobile apps, including dynamic video pause/resume and cross-app interruptions for both Android and iOS (see CawGo for reference—React Native, with custom AV logic). For your app, I’d focus on native module hooks for camera state, plus reliable call and screen sharing events, so the user experience never feels broken or confusing. Quick question: which video call SDK are you using (e.g. WebRTC, Agora), or is it all custom code? This affects how deep I can patch these flows. Happy to review your current media event handling and send specific fixes as a free diagnostic. You can see other mobile app builds at work.techindika.com. — Pradeep

Hi, there. Your React Native video calling issues are the type of real-time communication problems I have worked on extensively. I have experience with React Native, Android media APIs, WebRTC-based applications, call lifecycle management, screen sharing, and background state handling. My work has included resolving camera interruptions, telecom event conflicts, media session recovery, and stream synchronization issues across Android devices and OS versions. For this project, I will analyze the existing media flow, lifecycle events, and native integrations to identify the root causes behind the camera interruption handling, background SIM call behavior, and first-launch screen sharing issue. The goal is to ensure video streams pause and resume gracefully, participants receive accurate status notifications, and telecom events are handled consistently whether the app is foregrounded or backgrounded. I follow a systematic debugging approach using logs, device-level testing, and edge-case validation across multiple Android versions. The final result will be a more reliable calling experience with stable media handling, proper participant state management, and a screen-sharing workflow that functions correctly from the very first use after installation without requiring retries. Thanks.

Hi, I’m Mukesh. I can help improve your video call module to make media handling more stable, consistent, and production-ready across real-world interruptions. Approach: I’ll first analyze the current call lifecycle and media stream management (camera, screen share, and call state). For camera interruptions, I’ll implement proper stream pause/resume handling with a clear “Video Paused” UI state instead of rendering black frames. For SIM call interruptions, I’ll extend background call-state detection so the session correctly transitions to hold and notifies all participants even when the app is not active. For screen sharing, I’ll debug the first-time initialization flow, focusing on permissions, media stream setup order, and platform-specific edge cases to ensure reliable first launch behavior. Deliverables: • Fixed camera interruption handling with auto pause/resume • Proper SIM call background handling with call state sync • Resolution of first-time screen share black screen issue • Stable media lifecycle management across scenarios • Cross-device testing for consistency Clarifications: Q1. Which video SDK are you using (Agora, Twilio, WebRTC custom)? Q2. Is the app native (iOS/Android) or cross-platform (React Native/Flutter)? Q3. Do you already have a call state manager or should I refactor it?

Hi! I have reviewed all 3 issues carefully and I can fix all of them. ✅ Camera Interruption — I will detect when camera access is lost, pause the local stream, show a 'Video Paused' indicator to other participants, and auto-resume when camera is available again. ✅ SIM Call in Background — I will implement background call handling using foreground service and proper audio focus management so the hold behavior works whether the app is in foreground or background. ✅ Screen Sharing First-Time Bug — This is typically a surface or media projection initialization timing issue on fresh install. I will fix the initialization flow so screen sharing works correctly on the very first attempt. I have experience with WebRTC, video call SDKs, and Android background services. I can deliver all 3 fixes within 4 to 5 days with proper testing. Can you share the existing codebase so I can review and give you a precise timeline? Looking forward to working with you!

Hello, the biggest risk in real-time video calling apps is fixing one media-flow issue while unintentionally breaking another. Your requirements involve camera interruptions, background call handling, and screen-sharing lifecycle management, so careful debugging is essential. I can investigate and resolve: • Camera interruption handling when another camera app takes focus, showing a proper "Video Paused" state instead of a black screen. • SIM call handling in both foreground and background states, ensuring calls are placed on hold and participants are notified consistently. • First-time screen sharing initialization issues causing black screens after fresh installation. • React Native lifecycle, permissions, media-session, and native Android integration debugging. • Git-based updates with clean, maintainable code and testing across device states. I've worked with mobile app integrations, API workflows, real-time features, and production issue troubleshooting where stability is critical. I'll personally ensure all fixes are thoroughly tested before sign-off so the media experience remains reliable for users. Which video calling SDK are you currently using (WebRTC, Agora, Jitsi, Twilio, or another provider)? Happy to align on scope and budget once we connect.

Hi, I've worked on video call infrastructure in React Native, including camera lifecycle and WebRTC stream management across Android and iOS. All three issues share the same root: the app isn't listening to the right system events at the right layer. Camera interruption needs an AVCaptureSession/Camera2 observer that fires a signaling message to remote participants on access loss and restores the track on regain. The SIM call background issue is a foreground service gap on Android. Without a persistent foreground service holding call state, the OS kills the audio focus listener when backgrounded, so the hold signal never fires. The first-launch screen sharing black screen is almost always an uninitialized MediaProjection token. It works second time because the projection instance is cached after the first permission dialog, but the first-run flow doesn't wait for it before starting capture. All three are self-contained and won't touch the broader codebase. Best regards

hello, i have worked on react native applications involving real-time communication, media streaming, notifications and platform-specific android/ios behavior, so i understand the kind of issues you are facing. from your description, all three problems appear related to media session lifecycle management, permissions and state synchronization between the app, operating system and rtc layer. i can investigate the camera interruption handling, background sim call events and first-time screen sharing initialization flow to identify the root cause and implement a stable fix rather than temporary workarounds. for the camera interruption scenario, i would handle camera resource loss events properly and broadcast a dedicated "video paused" state to participants instead of leaving them with a black stream. for the screen sharing issue, i would specifically review the first-time permission, media projection and track initialization sequence since the behavior works correctly after the first attempt. could you let me know which rtc framework is being used? and are these issues occurring on android only or on both android and ios? best regards, dharam

Hi, there! In a recent project, I enhanced a React Native video calling application by implementing advanced handling for camera interruptions and improving the screen sharing functionality for a smoother user experience. I developed a feature that pauses the local video stream when users switch to another camera app, displaying a "Video Paused" indicator for other participants. A key challenge was ensuring that SIM call handling worked seamlessly in the background, which I resolved by implementing background task management to maintain call states reliably. Additionally, I addressed the initial screen sharing issue by refining the initialization process, ensuring users could share their screens successfully on the first attempt after installation. I offer to enhance your video call media app by implementing these critical improvements, focusing on user experience and reliability. My unique approach includes thorough testing across various devices to ensure consistent performance and seamless transitions during calls. If I use my previous experience, your project will likely be completed successfully. Hope to discuss this in detail. Through detailed discussion, I think I can find the better solution to finish your project successfully. Thank you!
