Intercultural Management - Assignment
Reflection piece based on theories presented throughout the course thus far (week 4).
This task assesses your understanding of culture and its dimensions, and knowledge of yourself in the context of culture and business. This task is an assurance that you can recognise cultural differences, why they are so, and your role. This task will not assess your competency of resolving a cultural issue..
Task Description: Write a critically reflective essay: Know yourself in the context of culture
Provide a critical reflection on yourself and the cultural ethnocentricities you possess, in the context of culture and in the context of a team.
What ethnocentricities (expectations, assumptions, ‘prejudgements’) are you aware that you possess about yourself, your team, or your work?
How do YOU score along the dimensions of culture (identify at least two cultural preferences), and how could your preferences be applied constructively in a team setting to maximise performance?
It is important to use first person in this essay
There is a process to evoke deep reflection, and it is expected that your critical reflection moves beyond a descriptive piece, and demonstrates 'relating, 'reasoning' and 'reconstructing' . Refer to the 'Guidelines for Reflective Writing ' on the unit website under Assessment or Global Manager's Brief Case.
(FYI: According to the MBI model you will learn, this is essentially MAPPING/DECENTERING/RECENTERING yourself to this course.)
Assignment Formatting Checklist:
Font Arial, Size 12, 1.5 line spacing.
Remember to complete the Electronic Assessment Cover Sheet before submitting your assignment.
There is no need to provide an Introduction or Conclusion.
You can use first-person language.
Criteria & Marking:
Marking will be according to the criteria (a rubric) provided to you on the unit website.
