We require a regular blog writer that can write two 600 - 1000 word blog articles per week.
The writer needs to have general tech knowledge. The more passionate about tech and computers they are, the better though.
The general scope of the content in the articles should be everyday computer/tech related items for the average novice/basic computer person. How to articles, popular/helpful software, products, cool websites (maybe an article about the Pinterest phenomenon, etc) computer tips and tricks, etc.
We would collectively want the writer to come up with a list of topics in advance that would cover at least 2 months worth of articles. Anything that might be a hot topic like a new iPhone release, new tech product, website service, etc would be squeezed in between the "regular" articles already planned out.
We want the articles to be high quality and not there solely for traffic purposes. We think many readers see right through content that is just thrown up there because companies are told they need a blog.
At the same time though, we do want them SEO optimized. When possible, we want certain keywords (we will discuss this strategy with the writer we choose only) mixed in but only in a natural way so it doesn't look or sound forced.
As previously stated, our clients are typically not the most tech savvy, so the articles should speak to our target demographic. They should be simple to read, straightforward and discuss or bring to light common issues the less tech savvy may encounter.
We'd like to pay by the quantity or articles. Of course the longer 1000 word articles will command more money than a 600 word article. We really want to work this out with the writer we choose since this is something we've never done before. We really don't know what is fair upfront. We want to try and keep the budget around $200 per month or less, but if the quality of writing is exceptional and you're a good fit, we can increase our budget a bit.
