I am looking for a skilled FEA (Finite Element Analysis) Engineer to perform a structural comparative study between two variants of a van's rear body structure. The main objective is to verify that both designs exhibit similar deformation and Von Mises stress levels under three different load cases. Inputs Provided: Model A (Baseline): Half-body CAD model of the van's rear structure (as shown in the attached image), prepared for symmetric mirroring. Model B (Reinforced): The same body structure but including two upper joining ribs and additional reinforcements. Software Requirements: ANSYS Mechanical (Version 2024 R2 or lower). Note: Delivery of the native archive file (.wbpz or project folder) is mandatory. Scope of Work: Geometry & Meshing: Apply a symmetric mirror to complete the full rear body structure for both models. Generate a high-quality surface mesh (shell elements for sheet metal) ensuring proper connectivity, normal orientations, and alignment at the symmetry plane. Setup & Boundary Conditions: Define appropriate material properties (Steel/Aluminum - to be specified). Apply realistic constraints (simulating the connection to the rest of the vehicle chassis). Set up 3 distinct load cases (forces) which will be provided (e.g., torsion, bending, or specific point loads). Analysis & Comparison: Run linear static structural analyses for both models across all 3 load cases. Compare Total Deformation and Von Mises Stress plots between Model A and Model B. Deliverables: Fully functional ANSYS project files (Geometry, Mesh, and Setup). A concise Technical Report (PDF) summarizing the mesh quality metrics, boundary conditions, and comparative results (side-by-side contour plots of stress and displacement, percentage differences). Skills Required: ANSYS Mechanical / Workbench Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Structural Engineering / Automotive Design Mesh Generation (Shell/HyperMesh/ANSYS Meshing) Crucial Note on CAD Cleanup & Midsurfacing: > CAD simplification, clean-up, and defeaturing are mandatory and highly encouraged. The original 3D geometry contains complex production features that will cause midsurface extraction and high-quality shell meshing to fail if left as-is. You are expected to remove small fillets, non-structural holes, and tiny features to ensure a clean, continuous sheet-metal mesh without compromising the main structural stiffness. Please factor this geometry preparation into your initial bid. IMPORTANT - ANTI-BOT FILTER: > To prove you have read and understood the entire project scope, please start your proposal with the exact word "ANSYS-MIDSURFACE" and briefly mention in your first sentence what strategy you will use to clean up the geometry before meshing. Failure to do this will result in immediate rejection of your bid. [login to view URL] [login to view URL]

ANSYS-MIDSURFACE - I will first simplify and defeature the CAD by removing small fillets, tiny holes, non-structural details, and problematic production features, then extract clean midsurfaces for connected shell meshing before setting up the analysis. I can perform the comparative FEA study for both van rear-body structure variants in ANSYS Mechanical 2024 R2 or lower and deliver the native Workbench archive/project files. I lead a strong simulation team with solid experience in ANSYS Workbench, shell meshing, CAD cleanup, midsurface extraction, automotive body structures, linear static analysis, Von Mises stress review, deformation comparison, and technical reporting. My method will be structured and verification-focused. First, I will review both CAD models, mirror the half-body geometry, clean the sheet-metal features, and prepare continuous midsurfaces. Then I will create high-quality shell meshes with proper connectivity, normals, and symmetry-plane alignment. After that, I will define materials, chassis-style constraints, and the three provided load cases, then run linear static analyses for Model A and Model B. The final report will include mesh quality metrics, boundary conditions, load case setup, side-by-side deformation and Von Mises stress plots, and percentage differences between both variants. I can complete this accurately and would be glad to become your long-term FEA and automotive structural analysis partner.

Through my extensive experience in the mechanical design and CAD field, my team at MHTechFusion and I have mastered ANSYS Mechanical/Workbench, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), structural engineering, and automotive design - all core capabilities needed for this project. Having worked on similar FEA projects in the past, I am well-versed in every aspect of your project's scope - from complex CAD cleanup to finite element meshing and setup to detailed analysis and comparison. My process includes a careful evaluation of all geometries to remove unnecessary or non-structural features without compromising the overall sheet-metal mesh's integrity, an element that is crucial to resultado delivery. As you have laid out in your project description, I bring a keen eye for tolerances and stack-up calculations along with proficiency in solving intricate engineering challenges. I understand that you need a freelancer who not only has the technical know-how but also the ability to deliver practical solutions in line with real-world needs, which is central to my approach. Together, we can ensure a comprehensive comparative study between Model A and Model B with well-documented results that are useful from both scientific and practical standpoints.

As an experienced mechanical engineer and ANSYS expert, I'm confident in my ability to deliver the professional and comprehensive structural comparative study you need for your van body analysis project. My proficiency in FEA, particularly with ANSYS Mechanical, is proven by my track record in running successful linear static structural analyses and providing actionable insights on deformation and Von Mises stress levels. I strongly believe in delivering results that matter, which is why my approach is rooted in understanding end-use implications. Moreover, your requirement for geometric clean-up and midsurfacing aligns perfectly with my skillsets. I see the challenge behind creating a continuous sheet-metal mesh without excluding any main structural aspects while discarding the small, non-essential features. Using SolidWorks, Fusion 360, and Inventor over 5 years, this cluttersome-task is my forté. The reason? Well, it ensures a high-quality shell meshing - something that can make all the difference during validation analyses like this.
