Select one of the following topics to work with using a CFD tool:
1) Flow and heat transfer in a fixed bed formed by particles.
Use at least 3×3×3 or more spherical particles
Single phase laminar or turbulent flow
Compare with existing theoretical and experimental data if available

2) Flow and heat transfer in solar photovoltaic and thermal (PV/T) system.
Consider wind speed as an input condition
Laminar or turbulent flows
Compare with existing theoretical and experimental data
See Paper 2 as a reference
Suggested CFD tool: ANSYS Fluent, Comsol, OpenFoam, or Matlab
FINAL REPORT REQUIREMENTS:
Type your report in word or pdf format: at least 5 pages excluding the cover page (title, name, affiliation, etc.)
Prepare the report using ASME conference paper template (can be downloaded from ASME website)
The report should include the followings:
–Title, abstract, and your name
–Literature review (It is suggested that least 10 related papers are reviewed to describe the state-of-the-art on the subject.)
–Proposed work and its objectives for this semester.
–Description what’s new or the difference in your work as compared to the existing papers (conditions, physics, or methods)
–Mathematical formulations: governing equations, boundary/initial conditions, with 1-2 schematic drawings to illustrate the physical problem.
–Proposed solution methods (numerical methods)
–Results and discussions (preliminary results are ok. Comparison with existing solutions, and in-depth analysis can earn extra credit).
–List of references cited.
Note: you might be asked to give a presentation of demonstration of your CFD work, and submit teh source code, case/data files, or other setup files.
