The client: My client has a shop. It is a consignment shop. People bring in goods to sell, the shop sells the items and takes a commission for selling the item. Items are Shoes and clothing. My client is currently using EPOS NOW (point of sale software) in their shop. This is a very well known POS software.
However there are some things missing from EPOS NOW software, so therefore they require certain aspects to be designed separately and then integrated with the EPOS NOW. Luckily the EPOS NOW software has a section for developers wishing to integrate software with their own. ([url removed, login to view]).
The only similar program that I have seen that is similar to what we are looking to be designed is ConsignPro ([url removed, login to view]), you can go to the website and download a demo to get an understanding of the system what we want to be designed.
Currently when a person brings in items for the shop to sell they have to complete a consignment form, which details what they are bringing in, their own details, and an agreed price that they want to get after commission. We want to computerise this form, so the person can complete this form from home or instore on a tablet.
The items are usually than checked for authenticity and booked into the EPOS NOW software. However there are some details which we are unable to record into the EPOS now system, and there are some missing functions which we need.
Currently we just book the item into the system, produce a unique barcode and price the goods.
They are currently using EXCEL to keep a record of each item that has come in and who its from. However there are some additional information which is stored in Microsoft EXCEL as the EPOS NOW system does not have those additional features.
On excel we can keep a record of the person email, when the item was brought into the store to be consigned, their bank details so they can be paid once the item has been sold (minus commission).
So EXCEL is used to manually manage the consignment process, we want to be able to computerize this.
An email is manually sent out to the person when their item is sold.
An email is manually sent out to the person if their item has been in store for 30 days and not sold.
The EXCEL spreadsheet is used to keep track of what has been sold, than manually marked off as sold using the report from EPOS NOW system. Than details are sent to accountant to pay the person.
All this the client would like to be designed into a program. (similar to ConsigneePro).
The process should be as follows:
a person wants to consign an item, they book via computer at home (website form), and than bring the item in. OR they book item instore.
ITEM is left with store to check authenticity.
A notification goes to the store staff. They have to check it and click APPROVE before item is added to inventory.
Once approved, the barcode/label/price is produced for the item.
Item goes on shelf for sale.
If item sells through EPOS NOW system, the person who consigned the item is
sent out an email the next day to say your item has sold.
An email/message sent to an accountant to arrange payment.
If not sold after 30 days the consignee is sent an email to say 30 days is up, please collect or renew the agreement.
