This is just an evaluation of Freelancer as I am totally new here. I need a program for robot to evaluate an n-gonal area and determine the best alignment of equally spaced back and forth strips to efficiently cover the whole area. It basically is determining the best angle of attack per se, for a given 2D search area. For example, for a long rectangle, it would be more efficient to align the robots travel down the length of the rectangle instead going side to side making a ton of turns. Extending this idea to an area with n number of sides, it would need to be able to figure out how to 'cover' / travel the entire area efficiently. It needs to be written in Matlab, C, or maybe Arduino. Eventually it will include obstacle recognition and avoidance, SLAM + GPS, comms, android/apple APP interface and real time GUI, and additional hardware (metal detection, sonar, cameras, laser).
