Love Alone Dance Project

Job Description:

I need a sound designer to score some of the dance for Love Alone.

Background:

Choreograph Historically, I create abstract movement-based performances through working with others. Improvisational structures, generated in collaboration with dancers´ specific bodies and imagination, form the vocabulary from what we make together. The language of these dances is inclusive, inspired by the performers I work with, who help me find the “voice” of the piece. danceTactics performances are forged in kinetic beauty– detailed, rigorous, passionate, but resisting singular meanings. My collaborators and I are committed to creating dance performances where audiences bring more of themselves to the experience.

Love Alone: 18 Elegies for Rog, which author and activist Paul Monette wanted, categorized under “AIDS” instead of “poetry,” is not only a scathingly powerful time-capsule of living during the early years of the AIDS epidemic in America; the 1988 book also articulates the rage, despair, fear, and love we experience whilst surviving a pandemic. Today, as the United States continues to stumble forward during year three of covid-19 and its variants, monkeypox, and polio, it's extraordinary how many parallels exist between the moments Monette describes with his poetry and our present. In terms of subject matter, the “Love Alone Anthology Project” would be my most directly impactful and least abstract project yet.
