A field tech for our water filtration company needs to be able to pull up a set of related records referred to as [maintenance tasks] to a related file, the Readings Report (parent). The file structure for this db is currently operational in FM12. What I need to do at this point is to move (Maintenance Tasks) from my existing database and load them into the iPad. The tech when he is in the field, creates a new Readings Record, enters the location barcode ID, the related Tasks load automatically, whereby each is performed by the tech and checked off - color coded and time stamped.
I have spoken with developers who note synchronization of data "online" in Go works "OK", but that working offline (which I need to do) is a challenge as files need to be sent via email etc. My data structure is sound, with unique Task ids set up properly. If you have experience with data synch with Go that would be great.
By doing this I will be able to send files to sub contractors who can work on off site equipment. I doubt if the iPads will be set up with data plans - probably just wifi enabled...
