I would like to setup an online database application to store famous quotes. In the future, I will have various websites that will pull specific quotes to display on their pages, usually rotating quotes on a daily basis.
I want to setup the database now so quotes can be inputted, but I want to make sure the database is properly setup so that when it is time to put the above plan into action, it will be easy to implement.
The following fields need to be included in this database:
FirstName (Author first name)
LastName (Author last name)
WebAddress (for author, if any)
BirthDate (for author)
DeathDate (for author)
Categories (a individual quote could have multiple categories)
By (The person who input the quote)
Approved (This indicates the inputted quote has been proofread and approved)
A form will need to be created that makes inputting a new quote super easy. Also an easy way to search the database for whether a quote already exists will be needed. The person doing the work will access the database online.
When the time comes that I start pulling quotes from the database to display on websites, the category field will be critical. For example, let's say I have a website that focuses on creating wealth. I would want this website to rotate quotes on a daily basis from the database that are from the “wealth” category.
However, each quote could be identified by multiple categories. Other words, don't assume each quote will fit into just one category. Most will fall into multiple categories (i.e. wealth, inspiration, lifestyle) I will provide in advance the names of the various categories.
This database may also be used with a newsletter or an auto-responder to insert quotes into the content.
I will leave it up to the programmer to recommend what database program to use for this. This database will most likely be hosted on a Windows Server.
Of course cost is a factor, but quality takes precedence. The main thing is I want to do this right upfront. I don't want a database with thousands of quotes stored and then find out later I can't use the database like I want.
Thank you for your interest.
