I need an Azure-savvy engineer to take a close look at my on-prem / Azure hybrid environment and squeeze cost and every bit of performance out of it for both local and remote users. Current setup •Hybrid – On-prem Hyper V virtual systems running Windows Servers, connected with Azure AVD with site to site connection. AD, DNS, GPO management etc. on prem. 1. On Prem Application: One Hosted on Hyper V virtual server (windows server 2025), it needs its drive to be mapped in user profile as a drive letter to make application work 2. AVD Application: Second Hosted on AVD host (Windows 11 multiple connections). It also needs its drive to be mapped in user profile as a drive letter to make application work. User profiles are saving centralized storage in Azure using FSLogix App accessed by: 1. Local – Access on-prem application via LAN and Second Application in AVD over S2S connection (very slow) 2. Local work from home (same geographical location) – connects to on-prem application via Cisco VPN (Anyconnect) and Second Application in AVD over S2S connection (very slow) 3. Remote user (different geographical location) – it is opposite of above; access Second Application in AVD via Windows App and first on-prem application via S2S connection (very slow) Goal: 1. Performance: a. Application accessed via S2S connections are very slow b. Locations of applications can be i. Both on-prem, but then remote user accessing it via cisco VPN will be super slow ii. Both moved to cloud, need VM and that will cost extra 2. Cost: a. S2S connection have flat rate b. Speed via S2S is very slow c. After user profiles moved to Azure storage, monthly cost jump to double You’ll likely lean on tools such as Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, Wireshark, PerfMon, and Group Policy Results. If you’ve engineered seamless Azure-on-prem hybrids before, especially with AVD, I’d love to see your plan. Please note, this is in use environment as I don't have any test environment, so the changes and work need to be done online with shared screen to avoid credential sharing and also making sure no change destabilize the work environment

Hi there, I've reviewed your hybrid Azure AVD setup and the latency issues over your S2S tunnel are clear — remote users suffer because the on-prem app is being dragged across the site-to-site connection, and AVD performance is bottlenecked by FSLogix profile latency and drive mapping over that same slow link. I've optimized several Azure/on-prem hybrids exactly like this, including AVD + FSLogix + drive mapping scenarios. What I'll do: ✅ Run Azure Monitor + Network Watcher + PerfMon to baseline S2S throughput, FSLogix profile load times, and drive map latency for both apps ✅ Right-size storage/disk types for the on-prem Hyper-V app and AVD hosts, and tune FSLogix profile container sizing/caching to cut Azure storage costs back ✅ Rebuild drive mapping (GPO/Intune) so the on-prem app mounts locally for LAN/VPN users and the AVD app mounts inside the session — zero credential sharing, done over shared screen ✅ Staged rollout: implement one access scenario at a time and validate before expanding, so production stays stable Skills: ✅ Azure, AVD, FSLogix, Site-to-Site VPN (Azure + Cisco AnyConnect) ✅ Hyper-V, Windows Server 2025, Windows 11 multi-session ✅ Azure Storage, Azure Monitor, Network Watcher ✅ Group Policy, OU design, drive mapping, GPO Results ✅ Windows Admin Center, PerfMon, Wireshark ✅ Microsoft® Certified: MCSA | MCSE | MCT ✅ 300+ projects delivered, 280+ five-star reviews

Hey! Realistic flag: proper diagnosis + fix for hybrid AVD/S2S performance and cost issues (network path analysis, FSLogix profile tuning, drive-mapping redesign, live production changes with zero test environment) is a $1,200-2,000 CAD, 1.5-2 week engagement, not $30-250 — this needs careful diagnostic work before any live change, especially with no test environment as a safety net. SolutionzHere's untangled AVD/S2S performance issues before (Azure Monitor + Network Watcher diagnostics, FSLogix optimization). Quick Q: is $30-250 a placeholder, or the actual budget ceiling? Determines if a scoped diagnostic-only phase makes sense first.

Hi, I reviewed your Azure-AVD hybrid on-prem/Hyper-V with site-to-site VPN, FSLogix, and drive-mapping needs, and the key issue is slow S2S app access plus rising monthly storage/network costs. I’ll focus on Network Administration and Troubleshooting by validating latency and throughput end-to-end (AVD host to on-prem app, VPN path), then tuning Azure and on-prem configuration to improve perceived performance without moving everything to cloud. Using Cloud Computing monitoring (Azure Monitor, Network Watcher) and diagnostics (PerfMon, Group Policy Results, Wireshark where appropriate), I’ll isolate bottlenecks and adjust Group Policy drive mappings and FSLogix profile settings carefully. I’ll keep changes incremental and safe with shared-screen execution to avoid destabilizing the environment. Let’s discuss here now.

I can help optimize this hybrid Azure/AVD environment carefully and online, with shared-screen collaboration only. My approach would be to first identify where the latency is truly occurring across LAN, VPN, S2S, AVD, FSLogix, and DNS/GPO paths, then separate application delay from network delay and profile/storage overhead. From there I’d prioritize low-risk changes that improve user experience without destabilizing production. For your setup, likely focus areas include: - Drive mapping behavior for both hosted applications - AVD session performance and host configuration - FSLogix profile storage latency and sizing - VPN and S2S routing, DNS resolution, and traffic path efficiency - On-prem to Azure access patterns for local, remote, and roaming users - GPO, logon, and profile load optimization I’d work methodically, validating each change before moving to the next so the live environment stays stable. The goal would be to reduce slow S2S-dependent access, lower unnecessary Azure storage costs, and improve consistency for both local and remote users. If helpful, I can start by reviewing the current traffic flow and profile/logon path, then build a practical remediation plan focused on performance first and cost second.

Hello, I understand you have an on-prem/Azure hybrid environment and need it tuned for cost and performance for both local and remote users. The setup: on-prem Hyper-V (Windows Server 2025) hosting one application whose drive must be mapped as a drive letter in the user profile, and a second application on AVD (Windows 11 multi-session) with FSLogix profiles on centralized Azure storage, also needing a mapped drive. AD/DNS/GPO are on-prem, with a site-to-site link to Azure. The core pain: whichever way a user connects, the application reached over the S2S connection is very slow—local users hit the AVD app over S2S, remote users hit the on-prem app over S2S—so someone always suffers. Plus costs rose (flat-rate S2S, and profile storage doubling monthly spend after moving to Azure). I engineer exactly these Azure/on-prem hybrids with AVD, and I'd approach this diagnostically first—measuring where the S2S latency and throughput actually bottleneck (Network Watcher, PerfMon, Wireshark) before changing anything—since the right fix (keep split, consolidate on-prem, or consolidate in cloud) depends on the real numbers and your cost constraints. I'll work carefully on your live environment via shared screen. Details below.

Hi, your setup has a clear bottleneck: users are crossing site-to-site and VPN paths for apps that depend on mapped drives, which is hurting both speed and cost. I’d focus on the flow from endpoint to app, then tighten the weakest links without destabilizing production. I’ve worked on hybrid Azure environments with AVD, FSLogix, Group Policy, and Windows Server, and I’m comfortable troubleshooting drive mapping, session behavior, and network latency in live systems. My approach would be to validate where the delay is coming from using Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, PerfMon, and Wireshark, then review profile storage, routing, DNS, and GPO behavior. I’d make changes incrementally through shared screen sessions so we can test safely and avoid service impact. If you’d like, I can help you identify the fastest low-risk path forward. Best regards, Gabriel

Hi, I understand you are looking for someone to analyze an active Azure and on-prem hybrid environment where the main issues are application performance over Site-to-Site VPN, AVD latency, FSLogix storage cost, and finding the right balance between performance and budget. I have worked with hybrid cloud environments involving Azure services, Windows Server, networking, VPN connectivity, Active Directory, DNS, GPO, and performance troubleshooting. In similar environments, the main challenge was identifying whether the bottleneck came from network routing, storage latency, application architecture, or VM placement before making changes. For this project, I would first review the current architecture and collect performance data using tools like Azure Monitor, Network Watcher, PerfMon, and network diagnostics. Then I would evaluate options such as application placement changes, storage optimization, AVD tuning, VPN improvements, and cost-saving alternatives without disrupting the production environment. I understand this is a live environment, so I would work through shared screen sessions and make changes carefully with proper validation at each step. I’d be happy to review your current setup and discuss the best optimization approach. Thank you for your consideration. Andrew

Hi there, Your main goal isn't simply to improve Azure performance—it's to eliminate the bottlenecks created by your hybrid architecture while reducing ongoing Azure costs without disrupting your live production environment. From your description, the biggest issue appears to be the constant cross-site traffic between on-prem applications, AVD hosts, FSLogix profiles, and Site-to-Site VPN connectivity. My approach is to first perform a non-invasive assessment of network latency, routing, DNS resolution, storage performance, FSLogix behavior, and AVD session metrics before recommending changes. I'll identify the true performance bottlenecks, evaluate alternative architectures, optimize profile storage and networking, and implement only low-risk improvements during shared-screen sessions. Every change will be validated in real time with rollback planning, ensuring your production environment remains stable while delivering measurable gains in application responsiveness and Azure cost efficiency. Looking forward to working with you. Thanks!

Your S2S bottleneck is the classic hybrid-AVD headache -- apps work fine locally but crawl over the site-to-site tunnel. And FSLogix profile storage cost doubling after moving to Azure is the other half. I've done 10+ years of cloud infrastructure and DevOps, mostly AWS but with enough cross-platform exposure to read Azure networking and cost patterns. Honest note: AVD and FSLogix aren't tools I work with daily. If you need someone who's tuned 50 AVD environments, I'm probably not the right fit. But if you want a sharp infrastructure generalist who can look at your Network Watcher traces, PerfMon baselines and S2S throughput with fresh eyes, sometimes that outside perspective catches what the platform-native folks miss. What you'd get: a structured audit of where the latency actually lives. Is it the S2S tunnel bandwidth, DNS resolution over the VPN, or Cisco AnyConnect overhead adding round trips? And a clear recommendation on whether consolidating both apps on-prem vs cloud pencils out when you factor VM costs against the S2S performance hit. All done as a shared-screen session, nothing touched without you watching. Shoot me a message and we can hop on a call to walk through your topology.

Your S2S problem is almost certainly latency, not bandwidth — which changes the fix. A mapped drive across a site-to-site tunnel means SMB over a high-RTT link. SMB is chatty: every file open costs several round trips, so an app touching many small files crawls even on an idle, fast tunnel. More throughput won't help. It's also why both your options look bad — either way one group sits on the wrong side of the tunnel. What I'd check first, on a shared screen, no credentials shared: - Gateway SKU vs. observed throughput. Basic/VpnGw1 ceilings are often the real cap, and that's a cheap fix. - Whether it's RTT-bound: SMB round-trip counts in Wireshark, not just Mbps. That separates "buy a bigger pipe" from "stop crossing the pipe". - FSLogix placement and Azure Files tier. Premium bills provisioned GB, not used — that alone often explains a doubling; Standard with transaction billing, or a right-sized quota, is usually the saving. - ExpressRoute and Virtual WAN priced against the flat S2S rate you already pay. Likely answer: keep AD/DNS/GPO on-prem, put each app's data on the same side as the compute that touches it, and give the other group a session, not a drive map, across the tunnel. Questions: 1. Which app is the file-heavy one, and how many users on each? 2. Azure Files — Premium or Standard, and what quota? 3. Current VPN gateway SKU? Ronak — 8+ yrs; Azure + AWS certified solutions architect, hybrid AD/AVD and FSLogix experience.
