I'm a foam sculptor and many of our projects use a large CNC router to turn digital 3D models into large foam sculptures.
This project involves a few 3D relief designs and one simple, 2-character, full 3D model. Our regular artist has been unable to finish due to some personal issues and we're in a bit of a time crunch. We can either finish editing what I have so far or start fresh from illustrations. These are original sketches inspired by Dr. Suess and will be carved to fit on a wall in a school from 3 to 8 ft tall and about 6 or 8 inches off the wall. There is minimal cartoon-style detail and it should not take very long.
Experience with either Artcam or Aspire is preferred, since those programs are specifically designed for this kind of work. If you're comfortable and proficient in creating 3D reliefs from drawings or photos in another program and can output .STL or .OBJ for production, that will work as well. Because of the need to turn these around quickly, we will need to see examples of this type of work from your portfolio. If you feel that your skills are not a good match, please do not submit a proposal. We do this kind of work often an would like to find someone we can rehire frequently. Good communication is essential and I strongly prefer working with someone in a similar time zone, in the Western Hemisphere, so that we can communicate during normal business hours.
