I’m building a fast-paced hack-and-slash in Unreal Engine 5 and need a partner who can take my reference videos and turn them into fully integrated gameplay animations. The work covers three areas: • Character movements – locomotion, dodge, jump, climb and any other traversal that makes combat feel fluid. • Attack effects – light and heavy combos, airborne strings, hit-reactions, special finishers and VFX-ready sockets. • Environmental interactions – breakables, doors, levers, context-sensitive vaults, and anything else the level throws at player characters, enemies and NPCs. Once the keyframes are in place, I also need the code that makes everything play in game. Whether you prefer C++ or Blueprint, set up the Animation Blueprints, State Machines, Blend Spaces, montages and notifies so that: 1. Player characters, enemies and NPCs all use the same locomotion core but branch cleanly into their unique combat trees. 2. Transitions are frame-accurate and interruption-safe, avoiding animation pop or input lag. 3. Exposed variables (stamina, weapon type, hit direction, etc.) drive the correct montage sections. 4. The system is commented and clean so my design team can expand it later. I’ll provide camera-ready reference clips from similar titles plus timing notes for each move. Drop a short reel or playable sample that shows you’ve tackled action combat before, and tell me how you’d structure the folders/montages in UE5 so I can plug new animations in without breaking the state machine.

Hi there, I already have relevant experience with Unreal Engine 5 gameplay systems, Animation Blueprints, State Machines, Blend Spaces, montages, notifies, and Blueprint/C++ integration, including action-oriented character mechanics. For your project, the critical part is not only matching the reference animations, but making them feel responsive in real gameplay. I’d build a shared locomotion core for players, enemies, and NPCs, then separate combat layers so each character can have unique attacks without duplicating the entire animation system. I’d organize assets by Character / Locomotion / Combat / Interaction / Montages / VFX, with modular montage sections and data-driven variables for weapon type, stamina, hit direction, combo state, and interrupts. This makes adding new moves later much safer. I’ll pay special attention to frame-accurate transitions, combo windows, animation cancels, root motion, sockets, and clean commented logic. I’d be happy to review your reference clips and help turn them into combat that actually feels sharp and satisfying in-game. Best regards, Harrison

Dodge is the first thing I'd pull out of the shared locomotion core. It reads like traversal, so it usually gets built there, but in a hack-and-slash it's a combat action with cancel windows. If enemies share it with players on the same timing, every archetype dodges identically and fights feel flat regardless of how good the keyframes are. So the core handles idle, walk, run, jump, fall, land. Dodge, attacks, and hit reactions live in the archetype layer, branching off the core rather than duplicating it. The state machine stays thin, and the real timing logic sits in notify windows tied to montage sections. That's what makes interruptions frame-accurate instead of approximate. Folder structure follows the same logic: montages grouped by move class, sections named to a fixed convention, notifies attached to sections rather than individual assets. Your designers add a move by matching a section name, not by editing a transition. Reel and playable sample: [link] Are enemy and NPC skeletons already retargeted to the player rig, or is that part of this?

Dear Client, I’m a full-stack developer with 10+ years of development experience, including interactive applications, C#, Java, mobile technologies, and complex system architecture. I’m comfortable working with structured gameplay logic and integration-focused development. I understand you need UE5 gameplay animations fully integrated from reference videos, covering locomotion, dodges, traversal, combat combos, hit reactions, finishers, environmental interactions, Animation Blueprints, State Machines, Blend Spaces, Montages, and Notifies. My experience with C#, application architecture, APIs, event-driven systems, and clean modular code supports maintainable gameplay workflows. I have a few questions: i. Are the character rigs and animation assets already prepared? ii. Which UE5 version are you using? iii. Do you have an existing animation framework to extend? I can structure reusable locomotion and combat systems with clearly separated folders, montages, variables, and documentation. Best regards, Md Ruhul Ajom

I’d structure the system around a shared locomotion core with separate combat layers for player characters, enemies and NPCs. My UE5 approach would include: Locomotion State Machine for idle, walk/run, jump, fall, land, dodge and traversal Blend Spaces for directional movement and speed variations Layered combat states so locomotion does not become tightly coupled to individual attacks Animation Montages organized by character/weapon/combat type Montage sections for light/heavy chains, aerial attacks, finishers and contextual actions Anim Notifies for hit windows, combo transitions, VFX sockets, footsteps and gameplay events Exposed variables for stamina, weapon type, movement state, hit direction and combat state Interrupt rules that prevent invalid transitions and animation popping Hit-reaction handling based on direction/context Context-sensitive interactions for doors, levers, breakables and vaults Reusable interfaces/components so player, enemy and NPC implementations can share the same core logic Clear folder and naming conventions so new animations can be added without restructuring the state machine I’d keep the gameplay logic separate from animation assets wherever possible. For example, adding a new sword combo should primarily mean adding the animation/montage/section and registering the required gameplay data, rather than modifying a large central state machine.
