Here is some work that can link to more projects as I often need help from good excel resources.
1. General objective: Create a new Excel spreadsheet based on 2 existing spreadsheets and compute additional calculations. For each row of spreadsheet 1:
a. Identify matching rows in spreadsheet 1 and 2
b. Export matching data in a new spreadsheet
c. Automate additional calculations
2. Existing spreadsheets: simple and group vectors
a. In the spreadsheet 2 is recorded information concerning “vectors”. These vectors have been extracted from a database. They are formed from points that are consecutive in time. Each vector is always composed of a low (SL Num) and a high point (SH Num). Low points are numbered from 1 to X consecutively. High points numbered as well from 1 to X.
i. Each row in spreadsheet 2 corresponds to one “vector” and each column is a variable concerning this vector.
b. In spreadsheet 1, the same principle than in the spreadsheet 2 applies. However here, vectors are created by grouping together non consecutive points. Thus they encompass more than 2 points. We can call them “Group vectors” compared to the “simple vectors” in spreadsheet 2
c. All vectors up are within spreadsheets 1 and 2 while all vectors down are in spreadsheets 1’ and 2’
3. Detailed objectives
a. Identify inner vectors within larger ones:
i. For each group vector listed in spreadsheet 1 (here called “larger vector”, identify all existing vectors in spreadsheet 1 and 2 with the same starting point but with a previous ending point (=ending point with smaller number). These will be called “inner vectors”.
1. One simple vector within spreadsheet 2 is always an inner vector of a group vector
2. Potentially X Group vectors from spreadsheet 1 are inner vectors of another group vector.
b. Every time an inner vector is identified, create an excel row within a new spreadsheet:
i. Export larger group data from spreadsheet 1
ii. Export Inner group data from spreadsheet 1 or 2
c. Automate additional calculation between the data imported in a row in step b above. All calculation are provided in Excel format.
