Transposed digits and misplaced decimals both leave a fingerprint in the arithmetic, and the quickest way to find them is to recompute every total from the rows underneath it and then look at the size of the gap, because a difference that divides evenly by 9 nearly always means two digits swapped places somewhere in that column, and a gap that is a clean power of ten means a decimal walked. So my pass is a Python script over the workbooks with openpyxl that recomputes each total, flags every cell where the stored figure and the recomputed figure disagree, and sorts the breaks by those two tests, and then I read the flagged cells by eye against your note on the common slips, because the script only finds where the arithmetic stops agreeing and it can't tell which side of the disagreement is the wrong one. You get the corrected worksheets back with duplicates and formatting untouched, plus a log with sheet, cell, old value, new value and the reason. The honest limit is that a figure keyed in wrong at the start and contradicted by nothing else in the file is invisible to arithmetic, and I can't catch that without a source document to check it against. Do the totals in these workbooks sit in live formulas, or were they pasted in as flat values?
