That is definitely an interesting problem. I've encountered problems like this before. But nothing exactly like this. Security would definitely help. I would also enable leach protection. Some form of IP blocking may also help with this. I have 10+ years development experience with Wordpress. 15+ years development experience with PHP, MySQL and Javascript.
