This project involves a complete overhaul of the events calendar section of a website for an underground dance venue in Manhattan called LOVE. The existing Calendar can be seen here:

The key elements of the overhaul are the following:
1) The overall design and navigation should remain roughly the same- that is, the concept is to populate a calendar grid with 2x3 aspect ratio thumbnails on days where an event is planned. clicking on the thumbnail should bring up a full size image in an adjacent panel along with a description of the event below.
2) the key point of the overhaul is to facilitate easier administration of the calendar and a tighter and more consistent presentation of information
3) in posting new events, there should be a multi-user admin backend password-protected interface. ideally, someone posting a new party should enter the following info as fields to be stored in a mysql database. each party posted should generate a single record, with the key field being the date of the party. the following fields should be required:
ideally, the 'poster' will upload a single image file of any size or aspect ratio and have the image automatically re-sized and/or scaled to produce the thumbnail and full sized image in the proper dimensions. Also, there needs to be a standard layout created for the required fields so as to ensure a consistent look and feel across parties. The party description, however, should be able to be entered via a open-source wysiwyg html editor that has the capability to add objects like audio and flash files and has advanced image/link capabilities (such as tinymce). The main objective is to enable non-professionals to add/modify events, and to provide a tight enough structure for layout and formatting with most of the key info so as to ensure a consistent, effective presentation, but to also allow some of the information to be completely laid out/formatted by the poster, and to enable the poster to use many types of rich media within the description.
Obviously, the calendar needs to be able to be edited completely in a straightforward way, and all links and navigation should be created 'automatically' based on the key field of the record.
One design feature that i would like to add is to have a background image of our logo as the backdrop for the calendar and to have the 'tiles' representing days rollover to the date of the party when a user passes over a thumbnail for a particular party
