Build a Website

As part of an hardware/software platform, we are kicking the tires on implementing a map interface for representing data form our agent network. The agent work is mobile and feeds our database with measurement data (some random application specific data for the sake of this discussion). Along with the app specific data the agents also upload their GPS coordinates. We need to be able to put markers on a map (Google Map?? some other API?? Preferably open source and free to start with) and have the ability to click on the markers to see the app specific data. We have a sample project that describes the agents and app specific data in django that uses a sqlite DB. Preferable we want the web frontend to work with that DB. But we are open to discussion. We are hardware folks and we apologize for any misleading terminology that may have been used here. We can explain it better if there are any questions.
