Update Wordpress website

We currently have a website that we manage and change the content on almost daily using Wordpress. We have an auction service where content is always changing. Our website is out of date by a few versions of Wordpress and we need to update it to the current version of Wordpress. We do not want to switch from Wordpress to another format. We also want to freshen up the website and change a few things on it. We want to maintain the control over our website once the job is completed.
