The "Platform"
The building stands honest and bare with its "bones" exposed, almost gossamer like, communicating with the user, through the means of primary, secondary and tertiary structural systems, further emphasised by order and material. The secondary steel system was calculated on a musical scale to harmonise and bond the entire structure to read as a whole. The gossamer fabric provides framing and permeability, defusing light into the perched library edges. Ordered from robust concrete, to steel, to timber which is experienced closest to the human form, this quality is consistent across the reading spaces in the library to the individual office desk in the workplace tower. Buildings are for people, and thus spaces designed around the human form. The structure does not follow the usual soldierlike dimensional similarity, in recognition of the singularity in every man.
