Desert Iguana sun-bathing
This sun-bathing Desert Iguana was shot as I was entering Twenty-Nine palms after having driven 2,600 miles across the country from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to begin working for the US Marine Corps under subcontract as the 3D lead for a four-person graphic-design team. I carefully approached the reptile from the front as I observed that it appeared to be entirely unaffected by my presence. I advanced to about 50 feet from the creature, then used a 70-210mm manual SLR lens for the shot. (These iguanas are prolific in the Mojave Desert.) The image was scanned to the TIF format at 300 dpi, then edited in Photoshop. The Dodge tool was used to lighten much of the iguana's body to make it more visible.
