St. Kitts Public Library Model
During the study tour of Basseterre St. Kitts it was acknowledge that the city required a civic building to house it treasured national history. Hence it was decided that a library would be design by the class of AS3 2011. The group was divided into four and each group was assigned a site. I was assigned to site 1 nestled between the historic Church Street and new street.\nConcept\nThe concept for the national library was created from memory, edges and the forces affecting site 1.Although history had a great impact on the site, the close connectivity of the surrounding buildings around it did not allow for views of the historic sites.The edges highlighted the paths, boundaries and residual space between each building around the site.The forces were derived from the impact each structure had on the site.Therefore the analysis of the edges were eventually was used for the circulation within the library and the forces of the surrounding buildings onto the site was used to for the form.\n
