A Robotic Prosthesis for Lower Limb Amputees
Hi all This is my project in robotic for university final year project. Robotic prostheses are kind of electro-mechanical devices which are used to replace missing body parts such as upper and lower limbs. These are intended to return the amputees to their pre-amputation functional status. However, the existing prostheses for below-knee (trans tibial) amputees have yet to completely reinstate the bio mechanical functions normally provided by the ankle muscles, leading to gait asymmetries and increased dependence on their intact leg. Also another most common problem is the cost of these products. Most of the currently available robotic prostheses are not economically feasible for amputees who were already suffering from poverty. Below knee amputations are the most common amputation occurred in the present world and there are several causalities having this type of amputation due to various diseases, due to the explosions of land mines and due to accidents.
