Linux, Apache, PHP and MySQL provide an excellent Open Source platform that can have a dramatic effect on the budget of small projects. PHP frameworks such as Symfony and Code Igniter coupled with Ajax orientated JavaScript libraries like JQuery and Mootools can produce commercial grade software with a great user experience.
